What a typical day looks like
Ahana's Yoga Teacher Training in Nosara is a deeply immersive experience, blending physical practice, theoretical learning, and personal growth. It's also super fun. Yes, we are learning a lot but there are tons of laughs, dinners, dancing to some local bands... we make learning fun!
7:30 AM – Morning Meditation & Pranayama
Your day begins in stillness. As the sun rises over the jungle, you’ll start with guided meditation and breathwork (pranayama) to cultivate focus and presence. These practices not only prepare your mind for the day ahead but also teach techniques you’ll later pass on to your students.
8:00 AM – Ahana Flow
This class is a traditional Ahana Flow class. Ahana Flow is a vinyasa style yoga class that blends creative sequencing with traditional Ashtanga poses.
10:00 AM – Breakfast & Break
After practice, you’ll enjoy a healthy and hearty breakfast.
11:00 AM – Yoga Philosophy & Anatomy Classes
• The Yoga Sutras & 8 Limbs of Yoga
• The history and evolution of yoga
• Understanding anatomy and biomechanics for safe practice
• The energetic body: chakras, bandhas, and pranayama effects
These sessions help bridge the gap between traditional wisdom and modern science, giving you a well-rounded understanding of yoga beyond the physical postures.
12:30 PM – Lunch & Relaxation
Jump in the pool, take a dip in the ocean, practice teaching, grab a coffee, look for some monkeys, or take a little siesta
2:00 PM – Teaching Methodology & Hands-On Practice
This is where you transition from student to teacher. Through workshops and group activities, you’ll learn:
• How to cue and sequence a class effectively
• The art of hands-on adjustments
• Building confidence as a teacher
• Practice teaching with peer feedback
By the end of the training, you’ll have led multiple classes and refined your ability to guide others.
4:30 PM – Restorative or Yin Yoga & Meditation & Kirtan
After an intense day of movement and learning, the evening practice is softer and introspective. We alternate between Yin, Restorative, and kirtan, these sessions help integrate the day’s teachings and allow for all the teachings to sink in.
6:00 PM – Dinner
Evenings in Nosara are special. Over a nourishing dinner, you’ll bond with your fellow trainees, share insights, and reflect on your journey. Some nights may include special workshops, kirtan (chanting), watching the sunset, movie nights...
8:00 PM – Sleep or chill or maybe catch a live band in town, just be prepared for a big day the next day.
